Fall Farm Fun

Although we haven't posted in awhile, we've been having lots of fun!

This weekend was particularly fun. The weather was amazing for starters.

On Saturday we drove out to Carnation for the King County Fall Harvest Celebration. First we went to our farm to check out the animals and fields and then go for a hayride.

After Jubilee, we went to River Valley Cheese. We got to taste a bunch of fantastic goat & cow cheeses and bought some goat cheese curds and a yummy loaf of goat cheese with figs and almonds. But the highlight was Clara milking a goat. She loooved it. The farm helper kept thinking she'd had enough but Clara just wanted to keep going and going.

And then we also visited Fall City Farms for some fresh apple cider, made-before-our-eyes donuts, and honey sticks + more animals, music, cider pressing, bee-watching, and maze-running.

We love us some farms.

Today was another gorgeous day so we packed the kids in the wagon and headed to the Sustainable Ballard Festival. It was our first time going and it was a lot of fun. Urban chickens, Segway and dog-pulled scooter rides, a big Metro bus for touring, and lots of vendor booths. My favorite was the Eat Local booth of course. I was cheered for my "fastest time in two days" in the vegetable identification game.

I definitely wish we'd taken more pictures of the kids. They're both so cute and blonde we're always asked if they're twins. Emmett was just adorable in the wagon. He'd asked for a flag before we left so he spent the ride waving it at cars and people. Clara ran a bunch on our way there and was hilarious always trying to hitch her skirt up since it was always falling down.
